According to new data from Similarweb, Anthropic’s Claude increased its share of global generative AI website traffic from 1.6% a year ago to 9.2% in June 2026, a gain of nearly 500%, allowing it to leapfrog rivals like Grok, DeepSeek, Microsoft Corp’s Copilot and Perplexity. ChatGPT held a commanding 52.7% share in June despite slipping from 76.4% a year earlier, while Google’s Gemini climbed from 9.1% to 27.8% over the same period. Claude’s traffic share nearly doubled in the past three months, rising from 8.0% in March to 9.2% in June, widening its lead over competitors including DeepSeek (3.6%), Grok (2.5%), Microsoft Copilot (2.0%) and Perplexity (1.1%). The data suggests the AI market is becoming more concentrated around three players, with ChatGPT and Gemini together accounting for more than 80% of global generative AI website traffic.
