Ant Group has led a strategic financing round of several hundred million yuan for Daimon Robotics, announced today (August 11), with over-subscribed follow-on investment from existing shareholders. This follows Daimon's 100-million-yuan Series A financing closed just two months ago. The investor lineup includes China Merchants Capital, Lenovo Capital and Incubator Group, Inovance Industrial Investment, China Mobile, and China Telecom. The competition in embodied intelligence has shifted from whether robots have tactile capability to whether they can truly understand and use tactile sense, with converting tactile input into tactile intelligence becoming decisive. Industry research shows that introducing tactile data significantly improves the success rate of robot contact-related tasks and data utilization efficiency, pushing Physical AI along a Scaling curve beyond pure vision solutions. Li Fei-Fei's team proposed in the T-Rex paper that tactile sense is an independent, high-frequency physical perception channel, not an accessory to vision, and simply splicing tactile signals into existing models may sharply drop task success rates.
