ChatGPT Business Adds $125 Premium Seat for Power Users Hitting Five-…

OpenAI introduced a new Premium tier for ChatGPT Business on Monday — $125 per user per month, or $100 with annual billing — that removes the five-hour usage cap on agentic workflows and gives active business users five times more headroom than the existing Standard plan. IT buyers have until August 20 to join the waitlist and claim up to $500 in workspace credits before early access opens. The announcement splits ChatGPT Business into two seat types: Standard seats stay at $25 per seat per month ($20 annually), and Premium seats cost $125 per user per month ($100 annually). Both sit inside the same centrally managed workspace, allowing owners and admins to mix and match, upgrade individual users, and reassign seats. Standard seats include a five-hour rolling usage window for agentic tools (Codex, ChatGPT Work, Workspace Agents), while Premium seats offer five times more usage, no five-hour window, and predictable weekly usage resets. If a team hits the included usage ceiling on either tier, workspace owners can add credits drawn from the same Codex agentic usage pool. The five-hour limit is an inference compute management constraint, as long sessions consume server-side GPU compute competing with other users. OpenAI said the Premium tier came directly from customer requests: "our top request from ChatGPT Business customers has been an expanded seat option with more capacity and usage built in."
