Google announced that its AI agent Gemini Spark will launch on macOS from 30 June 2026, according to Gemini app product director Adam Coimbra and DeepMind engineering VP Srinivasan (Cheenu) Venkatachary. Spark, built on Gemini 3.5 Flash and an internal harness called Antigravity, runs on dedicated virtual machines in Google Cloud and can operate as a 24/7 AI agent. The macOS update allows Spark to act directly on a Mac’s files and apps, such as sorting a Downloads folder, and bridges the desktop with Google Workspace. Access to files is permission-based. Remote execution, enabling tasks from a phone to be completed on a Mac, is coming soon. Spark launched at Google I/O in May, alongside Google cutting its AI Ultra plan from US$250 to US$200 a month and introducing a new US$100 entry tier. By late May, Spark began rolling out to AI Ultra subscribers in the US on Android, iOS and web. For macOS, Spark is in beta, limited to Google AI Ultra subscribers aged 18 and over, and limited to the US. The update also expands Spark’s connected-app list, which already works with Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, YouTube and Maps.
