NVIDIA is considering establishing a national biobank in Korea to support population health research and AI-driven drug discovery, including support for SK biopharmaceuticals’ neurology-focused AI drug development, senior NVIDIA healthcare executive Rory Kelleher said during the NVIDIA Life Sciences Special Address held on the sidelines of BIO USA 2026 in San Diego on Tuesday. Kelleher, senior director and global head of business development for healthcare and life sciences at NVIDIA, noted that NVIDIA is aware of SK biopharmaceuticals’ recent partnership announcement with Insilico Medicine and said SK biopharmaceuticals is “leaning into AI development for neurology use cases.” Kelleher stated, “We’re thinking about setting up a national biobank that can help inform population health but also drug discovery.” SK biopharmaceuticals told Korea Biomedical Review that no concrete decision has been made regarding AI-related collaboration, with an official saying, “We are keeping various possibilities open regarding the use of AI, but nothing specific has been decided yet.” Kelleher did not disclose details on the structure, timeline or participants of the possible biobank project, nor whether SK biopharmaceuticals would participate directly.
