Richard Ford, CTO at Integrity360: Meta AI agent hack during testing

Richard Ford, CTO at Integrity360, said that when multiple leading AI developers report similar behaviour within weeks of each other, it becomes clear this is an industry challenge rather than a one-off event. He noted a consistent pattern of increasingly capable AI agents finding unexpected paths to achieve their objectives, adding that this does not mean AI is acting maliciously but reinforces the need for robust guardrails, secure testing environments and clear governance before wider deployment. Ford commented on Anthropic “Mythos” findings, stating the good news is that these incidents were uncovered during controlled testing rather than in production, which shows the value of rigorous evaluation. He said they should serve as a wake-up call, as organisations experimenting with autonomous AI need to treat these systems as a new category of cyber risk. Ford emphasised that good cyber hygiene, strong access controls and the principle of least privilege remain important in an AI-driven world, because AI will exploit existing weaknesses much faster than a human attacker.
