Google joins AI vulnerability fight with code-fixing agent

Google is rolling out enterprise access to a DeepMind AI agent for hunting and patching bugs. The agent, CodeMender, was first unveiled in October 2025 as an internal DeepMind project, but is now available in preview via the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform or Google's new AI Threat Defense platform, launched after its 2025 Wiz merger. Cloud AI Product Management Director Clemens Viernickel said the "model-agnostic" tool (that currently only runs on Gemini models) will help fill a growing "remediation gap": "As AI models like Mythos are being ever more capable at identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities at unprecedented speed, companies need agents that can automatically generate code patches to match this new pace."
