Google Maps has upgraded its Ask Maps feature to help with tasks like ordering food, booking hotel rooms, and finding local events, using AI agents for multi-step requests while users still perform key steps like checking orders and making payments. The tool can find a dish at a nearby restaurant or along a specific route, filtering options by dietary needs, and can add items to a cart, leaving payment to the user. For hotels, Ask Maps compares prices, vacancies, ratings, exact locations, and amenities, but users must click through the partner website to book. Google also added Personal Intelligence, which uses information from other Google services for more personalized responses; users may choose to connect Gmail, letting Ask Maps use travel and reservation confirmations in answers about trips, flights, and hotels. This feature is turned off by default, with integrations with Google Calendar and other apps coming later. Google is bringing agentic food ordering, hotel and event discovery to the United States first, with Personal Intelligence, conversation memory, and the transit widget rolling out where Ask Maps is available.
