According to an article published on July 10, 2026, the market for "Forward Deployed Engineering" (FDE), a field-deployed AI engineering model, is rapidly expanding as companies accelerate AI transformation. Microsoft recently launched "MS Frontier Company," an FDE organization with 6,000 people, backed by a $2.5 billion investment. Amazon Web Services (AWS) also established "AWS FDE" last month with a $1 billion investment. OpenAI launched its dedicated FDE unit, "Deployment Company," in May. Boston Consulting Group (BCG) created a new role for "on-site AI engineers" and reported that over 40% of its $14.4 billion revenue last year came from AI and technology services. Domestic startups are also entering the market: Viverse, founded by former Toss executive Shin Jae-in, secured 1.1 billion Korean won in initial funding from Kakao Ventures and others in November last year; legal tech startup Mentat, established last year, is building AI systems for law firm Bae, Kim & Lee LLC; and Magicle, founded by former NCSoft developer Shin Seung-woo, has secured over 10 major corporate clients within a year of its launch.
