Douglas Yao, who claims to have a degree in computational biology from Harvard, says he made a new schizophrenia drug designed by ChatGPT in a chemistry lab he set up in his garage. He said the drug improves on Cobenfy, described as the first schizophrenia drug to act on the brain's muscarinic receptors, one of the systems nerve cells use to signal each other, whereas usually schizophrenia drugs work by blocking dopamine. Yao said, "I heavily utilized frontier AI models and liquid-handling robotics to develop both drugs," referring to an earlier drug he created in his garage lab with ChatGPT. So far, there's no outside confirmation or peer-reviewed paper presenting the findings.
