UiPath assisting One NZ on journey to become AI leaders

At the UiPath Fusion Summit in Sydney, VP of Pricing & Product Strategy at UiPath, Feiran Hao, distinguished between consumer AI tools for personal productivity and enterprise-grade AI deployments requiring governance, warning of the risk of "shadow AI" – unsanctioned tools adopted without oversight. Hao stated, "For personal productivity, it's incredible," but noted that unlike traditional AI, large language models can generate different responses to identical prompts, introducing challenges around auditability, accountability and trust. For New Zealand telco OneNZ, which aims to become a leader in AI-enabled telecommunications, governance is central to its AI strategy. It has established strict controls governing how AI tools access corporate information, with highly sensitive customer and commercially confidential data subject to stringent restrictions. Cy Wright, General Manager at One New Zealand, explained the company has deliberately avoided allowing employees to independently build AI agents that connect to critical enterprise systems, instead having "data engineers and AI engineers working with process people to build those agents" so that "a small number of people build and many eyes validate," as poorly governed agents could generate inaccurate outputs.
