SpaceXAI, Elon Musk’s rebranded AI company, has launched Grok 4.5, a model developed in partnership with AI coding startup Cursor that expands beyond software engineering into legal, financial, and cybersecurity workflows, challenging enterprise AI leaders OpenAI and Anthropic. Grok 4.5 is the first model jointly developed by SpaceXAI and Cursor, following SpaceX’s reported $60 billion acquisition of the coding startup. According to Cursor, Grok 4.5 is designed to handle “difficult, long-running tasks,” including software engineering, legal analysis, financial workflows, and cybersecurity. Musk acknowledged earlier this year that the venture’s AI capabilities had lagged rivals, prompting leadership and staffing changes, and the company introduced its first dedicated coding agent in May. The partnership strengthens SpaceXAI’s position in the market for AI-assisted software development, as Cursor has emerged as one of the fastest-growing AI startups. SpaceXAI has reportedly been increasing its focus on financial services customers. Cursor said Grok 4.5 incorporates systems to detect and block malicious actors while preserving legitimate security research.
