Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella warned that companies adopting artificial intelligence could unknowingly give away their most valuable asset: their proprietary knowledge. In an essay, Nadella described this as the "Reverse Information Paradox," arguing that businesses pay for AI tools and then feed them the information that makes those tools smarter. He borrowed the concept from Nobel Prize-winning economist Kenneth Arrow's "Information Paradox," which states that the value of information is difficult to judge before it is shared. Nadella said AI flips that idea: instead of the seller revealing too much information, buyers now risk exposing their own expertise while using AI systems to improve productivity. Over time, AI providers may learn more about a company's operations than the company learns about the provider's systems.
