Wedbush said Anthropic’s reported 191-megawatt data center agreement with Riot Platforms reinforces the durability of AI spending and could prove positive for Advanced Micro Devices as AMD prepares to supply Anthropic with next-generation AI accelerators. Riot announced a 20-year agreement this week to provide 191 MW of capacity to a leading frontier AI company, reported to be Anthropic, with 96 MW phased in by December 2027 and the remainder by June 2028. Wedbush analyst Matt Bryson noted Riot has now leased 241MW in total, having already delivered 25MW to AMD with a further 25MW under construction. Anthropic and AMD announced a larger strategic partnership in July, with Anthropic planning to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450-series GPUs, with the first gigawatt scheduled to begin deployment in the first half of 2027. AMD’s second-quarter data center revenue reached $6.7 billion, up 107% year over year, and accounted for 58% of company revenue. AMD expects companywide third-quarter revenue of about $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million. For AMD investors, Riot’s deal matters less as a direct revenue event than as evidence that Anthropic is securing physical infrastructure for future AI deployments.
