Google released Gemini 3.8 Flash on September 2, 2026, as a generally available product for production use, calling it its most capable Flash model and targeting long-horizon software work, autonomous agents, and complex enterprise tasks. The model supports a context window of up to 1 million tokens, produces up to 64,000 output tokens, and accepts text, images, audio, and video, with developer-set effort at low, medium, or high levels. Google Antigravity now uses Gemini 3.8 Flash as its default agent model, and its software development kit uses it by default as well. The API provides built-in tools including function calls, code execution, file search, URL context, and structured output, while computer use remains a preview feature. Google reports 73.7% on DeepSWE v1.1 versus 65.3% for Gemini 3.7 Flash, 89.4% on Terminal-Bench 2.1 versus 85.8%, 61.4% on the Vals Finance Agent v2 benchmark, a 10% pass rate on the Harvey Legal Agent Benchmark, and 54.9% on HLE-Verified.
