Anthropic is expanding in India by adding in-country inference for Claude through Amazon Bedrock, with requests sent to the India endpoint processed on servers in India. This move aims to give Indian organizations in regulated sectors, such as banks, insurers, and government agencies, control over data handling. Ashok Vaswani, Managing Director & CEO of Kotak Bank, welcomed the development, noting it brings trusted frontier AI closer to home. Irina Ghose, Managing Director of India, Anthropic, said the addition marks a turning point for enterprise AI, allowing data to stay in India. Sandeep Dutta, President, AWS India and South Asia, highlighted that institutions can deploy Claude on trusted infrastructure. In February, Anthropic officially opened its Bengaluru office, and its India team has grown significantly, providing applied AI expertise to enterprises, digital natives, and startups.
