Samsung Electronics Co. held its annual Samsung Advanced Foundry Ecosystem (SAFE) Forum in Seoul on Wednesday, unveiling plans to strengthen collaboration across the AI semiconductor ecosystem and presenting its next-generation foundry technology strategy. About 400 representatives from customers and partner companies attended this year’s event. Twenty-one partners spanning electronic design automation, intellectual property, design solutions and multi-die integration showcased their technologies, including Semifive Inc., ADTechnology Co. and Synopsys Inc. Among the exhibits was Groq’s Language Processing Unit (LPU), manufactured by Samsung Electronics’ foundry business and signed “Groq Super Fast” by Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang. Samsung Electronics also unveiled its roadmap for next-generation 2-nanometer process technology and design technology co-optimization (DTCO) to support growing demand for AI semiconductors. The company outlined plans to strengthen its static random-access memory (SRAM) technology. Partners including AI chip startup Rebellions Inc. and Siemens EDA also presented case studies. Launched in 2019, the SAFE Forum brings together foundry customers and partners. According to market tracker Omdia, the global foundry market for process nodes of 3 nanometers and below is projected to grow from $25.7 billion last year to $101.9 billion by 2028.
