At the Smarter E Europe trade show in Munich, Michael Koller, Solutions Director for Europe and the UK with Envision Energy, outlined a framework addressing the challenge of making intermittent renewable generation reliably dispatchable. The approach integrates four layers: solar for electricity generation, storage for dispatchability and flexibility, grid-forming technology for system stability, and AI as the orchestration layer optimizing the system in real time against weather, market conditions, and grid constraints. Koller emphasized that Envision’s value comes from designing components as a unified system rather than assembling best-of-breed parts from different vendors, informing the company’s recent launch of its own solar inverter. He stated that tight integration between solar inverters, battery inverters, and the plant controller unlocks benefits in system sizing, optimal dispatch, and long-term asset performance. Envision’s presence at Smarter E has grown across successive editions, reflecting what Koller described as rapid commercial momentum across European and UK markets.
