OpenAI and peripheral maker Work Louder collaborated to create the Codex Micro ($230), a dedicated keypad designed for "vibe coding" and managing AI workflows. The device, which bears OpenAI's logo and works with the ChatGPT desktop app, is a reskinned version of Work Louder's Framer Micro and Creator Micro pads, based on the manufacturer's Pro versions with Bluetooth and wired USB-C connectivity. It supports Apple macOS, Microsoft Windows, and Linux. The limited-run macro pad sold out in less than a day. The keypad features programmable macro keys, built-in functions to coordinate multiple AI workflows and agentic tools, agent status lights, and a dedicated voice button. Its release coincides with changes in OpenAI's Codex agent ecosystem, including the recent launch of ChatGPT Work, a task-completion agent, and the merger of the standalone Codex app into the ChatGPT desktop app, making Chat, Work, and Codex part of the same shared ecosystem. The device is OpenAI's first branded piece of hardware, though it is not the rumored Jony Ive-designed smart speaker.
