Mukesh Ambani and Sunil Bharti Mittal have been named among the founding members of the newly launched AI for Good Global Commission, an initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Announced on July 2, the Commission brings together more than 40 leaders from governments, international organisations, academia and the private sector. The two industry stalwarts will serve alongside Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, who will co-chair the Commission, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, and ArcelorMittal Executive Chairman Lakshmi N. Mittal. The Commission will be co-chaired by Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Marc Benioff, while ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin will serve as Vice-Chair. The body will focus on expanding access to AI, strengthening trust, and developing practical solutions that support sustainable development. The ITU estimates that around 2.2 billion people are still offline. The Commission is expected to convene for the first time during the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva, scheduled from July 7 to July 10.
