The Council of Ministers has authorized the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration to participate, through the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), in Multiverse Computing, a Spanish artificial intelligence and quantum computing software company, with a public investment of up to 107 million euros. Founded in 2019 in San Sebastián, Multiverse Computing is the largest quantum software company in Europe, focusing on energy-efficient AI solutions based on quantum computing-inspired technologies for sectors including finance, energy, logistics, space, health, and defense. In June 2025, SETT backed the company with a €59.2 million investment, aiming to boost its technology that compresses large language models, reducing AI size and energy consumption by up to 95% and enabling deployment on small devices. Its tensor networks make AI 4 to 12 times faster and reduce costs by 50% to 80%. Following the first public investment, the company closed agreements with Cohere, Axelera AI, Plain Concepts, Inetum, EY, and PwC, and launched a new generation of optimized AI models, including its first open-source model and a family of compressed models for hardware-constrained environments.
