Apple has indicated that higher access to Siri AI and its new Apple Intelligence features may require additional payment. During Apple's earnings call on Thursday, outgoing CEO Tim Cook said, "we will have some kind of upgrade possibilities on iCloud+ where people can buy up the stack," without elaborating. This suggests users could pay more for higher usage limits and potentially prioritized processing speeds. Siri AI, which upgrades the digital assistant on compatible iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch devices later this year, relies partly on cloud servers, increasing costs for Apple as usage grows. Apple previously mentioned usage limits on demanding processes, including image generation, and said "increased access is available with most iCloud+ subscription plans." This is the first time Apple has acknowledged Siri AI may be paywalled. While many users may decline to pay, some will likely try it, adding a potential revenue stream for Apple.
