Bunker Kids, operator of the AI character chat service 'Whif,' secured ₩15 billion (approximately $10.6 million) in a Series A funding round. Eight investment firms participated: Kolon Investment, Kakao Ventures, Mirae Asset Capital, We Ventures, BSK Investment, Murex Partners, Crit Ventures, and Samchully Investment. Since launching in mid-2025, Whif has shown rapid growth. Average daily engagement time among paying users reaches 217 minutes, and payment volume grew at a monthly average rate of 110% over the nine months following launch. Within one year of debut, monthly revenue expanded to 1,000 times its initial level, and Whif ranks first in revenue within the Asian market for female-oriented AI character chat services. The platform allows users to form relationships with AI characters and create narratives, with anyone able to create and share characters. After launching in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States last October, Whif now operates in 13 countries. Approximately 40% of total revenue is generated overseas, with a target to raise this to over 60% by year-end. Bunker Kids plans to use the investment for organizational expansion, recruiting across development, planning, design, and marketing, and to enhance characters and narratives while integrating multimodal technologies such as images and video. The company also intends to accelerate overseas expansion with country-specific content.
