Commerce Secretary Md. Ataur Rahman Khan on Sunday emphasized the need for more effective, integrated, and technology-driven market monitoring through stronger inter-agency cooperation and digital solutions at a workshop titled "Capacity Building for Team Leaders Engaged in Market Monitoring." He stated that all agencies are working towards ensuring market discipline and stability, noting that the primary challenge is not a lack of institutional capacity but ensuring effective coordination, mutual cooperation, and prompt decision-making at the field level. Highlighting Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir's plan to modernize the system, the secretary said the government will soon develop a Power App, introduce an artificial intelligence (AI)-based model for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), and upgrade the existing market monitoring application. He stressed that leadership must be efficient, timely, and result-oriented, and that training and motivation should translate into practical action plans.
