A guerrilla art collective called Everyone Hates Elon modified a London bus stop advertisement for Meta’s AI glasses, which are co-designed with Kylie Jenner, by adding a lenticular overlay that creates an optical illusion turning Kylie into a skull-faced alien and revealing the message "We're Always Watching You" when viewed from a particular angle. The subvertising references John Carpenter’s 1988 sci-fi horror *They Live* and feels more honest than the original ad, amid concerns that AI glasses can be used to film people without their consent, including for sexual exploitation. Meta, which also owns Facebook and Instagram, is reportedly also planning to develop glasses that take photos every few seconds with no warning light, and *Wired* reported last month that Meta had added although not activated a facial recognition system to the glasses’ software, raising even more privacy concerns.
