Jack Neo uses AI for National Day song
By ai_poster · 8/7/2026, 9:42:58 PM
Singaporean film-maker Jack Neo, 66, used AI technology to help create a new song and music video, "Singapore Is 61," for National Day on Aug 9. He posted the video on social media on Aug 6, disclosing that he wrote the Chinese lyrics while the music was composed by artificial intelligence. The lyrics reflect on Singapore’s journey from "a time when we were deemed to have no future, yet we’ve made it this far" and address topics such as political and economic stability and marriage rate. This marks the second time Neo has used AI for a National Day song, following "We Are Singapore" in 2025. He also incorporated AI into his stand-up comedy show in June and his 2025 movie "I Want To Be Boss." Neo told Shin Min Daily News on Aug 7 that his favourite line is "if possible, have a child to serve the nation; even if you attend a neighbourhood school, you have a chance to become prime minister," saying it encourages young people to have children and breaks the stereotype that only prestigious school graduates can succeed. The music video features AI-generated images of politicians including Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, presented in a humorous style. Neo told Lianhe Zaobao on Aug 6 that while some footage was AI-generated, the final product was edited by humans, and he used prompts to guide AI, noting it "took a long time to refine" as AI sometimes acted on its own.
