Celeris, an artificial intelligence research lab, announced Celeris-1, its flagship language model built on a novel diffusion architecture that breaks from autoregressive token generation. Celeris-1 delivers near-GPT-5 intelligence with up to 15x faster response times. It generates 1,664 tokens per second, over 5 times the output speed of Mercury 2, at substantially higher reasoning accuracy: 75.9% versus 63.7% on MMLU-Pro. Against GPT-5, Celeris-1 generates output at 24 times the speed. The model is engineered for latency-sensitive production workloads, with a median response time of 158 milliseconds. "Speed changes what you can build," said Tom Hamer, Co-founder and CEO of Celeris. "We optimize for intelligence delivered per unit of time, and Celeris-1 is the first demonstration of that principle."
