Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg will very likely have to sit for a deposition in a publisher’s copyright lawsuit accusing the tech giant of “industrial-scale piracy” to train AI models, a California federal judge said Friday. Judge Vince Chhabria stated, “At our next status conference, there should be a deposition date for Zuckerberg on calendar, and if there’s not, I will pick a date of my choosing,” adding that it should take place by August 28. Meta’s counsel, Kyle Smith of Dunn Isaacson Rhee LLP, objected and asked for an opportunity to brief the issue.
