Microsoft is committing $60M to the Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission, a public-private initiative designed to integrate artificial intelligence into American scientific research with the goal of doubling US scientific productivity within a decade. President Trump launched the Genesis Mission via executive order on November 24, 2025, tasking the DOE with building an “AI Discovery Platform” connecting its 17 national laboratories, supercomputing clusters, and research datasets. By December 2025, roughly 24 partner organizations had signed memorandums of understanding, including NVIDIA, OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and AWS alongside Microsoft. The mission announced 26 specific AI science and technology challenges in early 2026, targeting domains from energy systems to national security. For crypto and digital asset markets, the Genesis Mission has no direct connection, with no blockchain components, tokenized data infrastructure, or digital asset integrations identified.
