Anthropic reveals its internal Claude use is worth more than payroll

In a prospectus filed with the SEC on November 2, 2026, Anthropic states that since April the monthly value of its internal Claude use, calculated at list prices, has for the first time exceeded monthly personnel expense, excluding stock-based compensation. The document says that value grew by more than 250 times between January and September 2026, and that in September over 90% of the company's code contributions were written by Claude. The filing also states that average daily code volume per engineer in the quarter ended September 30, 2026 was over 45 times the 2024 level, headcount grew more than fivefold over the period starting at the end of 2024, and revenue for the quarter ended in September was 86 times that of the quarter ended in December 2024. The quarter's results had already come out with 16.8 billion in revenue. The ipo.anthropic.com domain is live, but the page for Europe showed a single line on 3 November, “More information to come”, with no prospectus, timetable, price range or subscription instructions; the only document with figures and terms is the S-1/A filed with the SEC, and the price is still blank. The prospectus states that personnel expense consists "primarily" of stock-based compensation.
