OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman and his wife Anna donated $5.5 million to a fundraiser to buy land slated for development near the nest of Internet-famous eagles Jackie and Shadow, according to an announcement on Friday by Friends of Big Bear Valley, a nonprofit that monitors the eagles. The donation means the fundraising goal of $10 million is met. The gift comes as Big Bear eagle Jackie has been in intensive care for nearly a week battling an unexplained malady. The Brockmans are among thousands who have watched the eagles via webcams installed by the nonprofit, Anna Brockman said in a statement.
