Chime Financial Inc. shares rose more than 4% in early trading Monday, trading near $23.98, up about $0.99 from the prior close, ahead of its second-quarter earnings report due after the market close on Wednesday. The move follows Chime's disclosure of plans to reduce its workforce by approximately 10%, or about 150 positions out of a total headcount near 1,500, as part of an effort to capture efficiency gains from artificial intelligence, outlined in a staff memo from co-founder and CEO Chris Britt. The workforce reduction follows Chime's achievement of its first quarter of GAAP profitability as a public company. For the three months ended March 31, the company reported revenue of $647 million, up 25% from a year earlier, net income of $53 million, or 13 cents per diluted share, and adjusted EBITDA of $119 million. Payments revenue rose 15% to $433 million, while platform-related revenue climbed 50% to $215 million. Active members grew 19% year over year to a record 10.2 million. Management raised full-year 2026 guidance, expecting revenue between $2.66 billion and $2.69 billion and adjusted EBITDA between $416 million and $431 million. Chime also launched Chime Invest on July 20 and joined a consortium to develop a stablecoin called Open USD.
