Indian AI startup Sarvam AI is hiring forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) as it expands deployments of its AI platform across enterprises and public institutions in India, building what it describes as a sovereign AI platform for India spanning research, foundation models, infrastructure, and applications, with customers including Tata Capital, SBI Life, CRED, IDFC, and LIC. The hiring comes as forward-deployed engineering becomes a priority across the AI industry; last week, AWS announced a $1 billion forward-deployed engineering organisation, and Microsoft followed with the Microsoft Frontier Company, backed by a $2.5 billion investment and a team of around 6,000 engineers and AI specialists. According to the job posting, the role involves working directly with enterprise customers to integrate Sarvam’s AI platform into business workflows, taking AI systems from design to production while serving as the primary technical contact for enterprise accounts. Sarvam expects engineers to work across voice and conversational systems, developer tools, translation and dubbing pipelines, and agentic AI workflows, requiring experience with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), context engineering, memory systems, structured outputs, and agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or Google ADK.
