Saksham Gupta, 28, a software engineer from Bengaluru, quit his high-paying job at Microsoft, where he spent more than two years helping build the AI systems behind Copilot, to study India's healthcare system and explore how AI can help solve some of its biggest operational challenges. Gupta told Moneycontrol, "I wanted to work on something that affected a lot of people and where I could have a direct impact." Originally from a town about 200 km from Delhi, he studied Computer Science at IIIT Hyderabad and completed a master's degree in Computational Natural Sciences with a focus on bioinformatics, later working at Uber and a high-frequency trading firm. He stated, "The startup journey can be long and tedious. The work I did over the last five years gave me enough savings that I can last two to three years without a job," adding that he has always been mindful with his expenses.
