Microsoft Digital, the company's IT organization, created an agentic AI assistant built into GetConnected, an internal portal that 18,000 employees, vendors, and network administrators use each month to register new devices to the network. The goal was to turn a five- or six-step process into something that could be completed in just one or two actions. The team focused on registration, the simplest and most common action users had trouble with, based on customer feedback. GetConnected does not apply to remote device registrations. The team used the Microsoft Agent Framework (MAF) to enhance onsite device management, testing their hypothesis around AI investments as part of their role as Customer Zero.
