[Science Bulletin] San Francisco AI Summit Launches $950 Billion Kore…

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 25th that it held the “San Francisco Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit” in San Francisco, United States, on the 24th with leading domestic and global companies, and launched a global AI investment initiative. Leaders from Korean and international companies including Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor Group, and Naver, as well as Nvidia, Broadcom, OpenAI, and Anthropic, attended the event. Taking the summit as a starting point, six agreements were signed between Korean companies and overseas big tech firms. Announced projects include semiconductor supply and production cooperation worth a total of 950 billion dollars and collaboration on building artificial intelligence data centers (AIDCs) with a total capacity of 5 gigawatts (GW). Samsung will work with Broadcom on the supply of advanced memory semiconductors and AI chip foundry services worth 200 billion dollars over five years, while SK will pursue cooperation worth 500 billion dollars with Nvidia, including building and expanding AIDCs of up to 2 GW. Naver unveiled plans with Nvidia and Brookfield to expand its global AI factory network with investments totaling 10 billion dollars.
