Agents that are persistent | New in Copilot Studio, October 2026 | Mi…

In October 2026, Copilot Studio introduced new capabilities aimed at helping organizations use agents that can take on real responsibilities and keep work moving, including persistent agents that carry work forward, more sophisticated customer conversations, expanded integrations, and greater control over costs. Copilot Studio skills in Cowork, available through the Frontier program for users with a Microsoft 365 license, bring natural-language solution creation into everyday tools, letting makers describe a business need using existing files, processes, and conversational context and then design and build agents, apps, and workflows; makers can continue refining and managing solutions in Cowork or Copilot Studio, with Copilot Studio providing the foundation for testing, governance, and deployment so makers build compliant managed solutions that admins have deep control and visibility over. With the new Microsoft Copilot Studio Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, makers can bring Copilot Studio capabilities directly into supported command-line interfaces, developer tools, and agentic interfaces like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and OpenAI’s Codex, using natural-language instructions to discover existing resources, create and configure agents and workflows, run tests and evaluations, publish updates, and troubleshoot issues, with built-in skills providing additional guidance for authoring, testing, and troubleshooting, while access remains governed by organizational permissions and policies.
