In a “Happy Sad Confused” podcast interview promoting her film *One Night Only*, Monica Barbaro teased Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming OpenAI film *Artificial*, starring Andrew Garfield about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Barbaro said Guadagnino would describe the film as “a madcap comedy” one day and “a horror story” the next, adding that having seen it, “it kind of is all of that.” She noted the script by Simon Rich was inspired by real events and involved “really challenging material” about living people, making the task “heavily research-based.” In June, Amazon MGM Studios dropped the feature just months after Amazon entered into a $50 billion investment with OpenAI, and Neon later landed the film. Garfield previously told THR he was grateful to Amazon for making the film and helping it find a new home at Neon. Barbaro also addressed comments by her *A Complete Unknown* co-star Timothée Chalamet, who said he wouldn’t want to work in an art form that “no one cares about,” citing ballet and opera as examples. Barbaro said she couldn’t know exactly where he was coming from, but recalled conversations on set about his sister being a dancer.
