President Lee Jae-myung hosted an artificial intelligence summit in San Francisco on Oct. 24, where Naver, Nvidia, and Brookfield are pursuing a $10 billion AI factory project. Naver will expand the initial capacity of its AI factory at "Gak Sejong" in Sejong City from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts, accommodating about 100,000 GPUs. Brookfield will raise up to $9 billion, and Nvidia will make a strategic investment of $1 billion. SK Telecom is moving to build and expand an AI data center of up to 2 gigawatts with Nvidia and has secured priority allocation of the Vera Rubin system. SK Telecom is also pursuing investment cooperation with Anthropic on a domestic GW-scale AI data center. Samsung SDS signed a strategic partnership with Anthropic to develop new enterprise AI businesses. The companies unveiled these plans on the occasion of the summit, and the AI data center vision under the government's "Three Mega Projects for Korea's Great Leap Forward" has entered the implementation stage.
