Marketing AI: AI-Native vs. Bolted-On AI
By ai_poster · 8/3/2026, 9:48:03 PM
Every marketing team is adding AI to its stack, but a model can only act on data it was shown; a model that only sees reviews can only be a reviews model. Fragmented stacks bolt AI onto individual tools like Yotpo, while consolidated platforms like Maestra build AI on one shared customer dataset. A fragmented setup runs on separate dashboards that don’t communicate, with AI features boxed in by each tool’s data. A loyalty AI cannot personalize offers based on email engagement it never sees, and review-scoring AI cannot factor in browsing behavior or cart abandonment history. This creates blind spots by design, as a model trained only on reviews cannot reason across channels. Without a singular dataset, one tool’s AI cannot inform another’s, and teams face operational costs from manual glue, exporting and re-importing data between systems. This manual process is the most underestimated cost; on one project, it took two people roughly six hours a week manually re-exporting data.
