Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth told employees at a July Q&A that they should use time freed up by AI productivity gains to do "even more and cooler stuff" for users, responding to a question about reviving the canceled Meta Days holiday program by calling it "very dumb." According to three people on the call, Bosworth said, "Stop asking about Meta Days. It's very dumb," and suggested workers use extra time for more work, adding, "I get an extra hour. You know what I do with it? I put it into that." He also asked employees to consider what their parents would think of requesting more days off as a "career strategy," then apologized for coming down "too hard" on the employee, saying he felt the question was "tongue-in-cheek." Meta has cut 10,000 to 11,000 jobs across the last 12 months, and its AI-driven capital spending over the previous four quarters has reached $92.43 billion.
