Dubai Municipality has announced an artificial intelligence-powered system that will reduce building permit processing times from days to minutes. The project will deliver a fully integrated digital system capable of issuing building permits for some buildings automatically and without human intervention by reading submitted drawings and documents. It will verify compliance with the Dubai Building Code and technical requirements, including plot planning, architectural designs, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, structural safety, and building stability. The system will enable automated issuance for all private and investment villas, allow pre-submission design checks, and provide instant decisions. Manual reviews will be limited to exceptional cases, allowing technical teams to focus on higher-value activities. Eng. Mariam Al Muhairi, CEO of the Building Regulation and Permits Agency, said the project reflects Dubai's vision of using AI to redesign government services, supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the annual plan to accelerate AI adoption. The project will be implemented over three phases.
