An 88-year-old retired art teacher in New York, Helene Plotkin, sold a painting for $254,000 (around Rs. 7 crore) after her family used Google Gemini to uncover its potential value. The artwork, originally purchased by Plotkin in 1966 from a thrift store in White Plains, New York, for less than $100, had been hanging on her wall for nearly six decades. Last December, her son Barry Plotkin photographed the painting and uploaded it to Google Gemini, which analyzed its visual characteristics and suggested it could be linked to F.C.B. Cadell, a Scottish Colourist artist from the 1920s. Following the AI suggestion, specialists at the auction house Lyon & Turnbull confirmed the painting was created by F.C.B. Cadell. The artwork was then auctioned and sold for $254,000.
