Apple Rushes iOS 26.5.2 Update to Thwart AI-Driven iPhone Cyberattacks
By ai_poster · 6/30/2026, 9:37:45 PM
Apple unexpectedly released iOS 26.5.2, iPadOS 26.5.2, and macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 with 30 critical security patches weeks ahead of planned deployment, warning that advanced AI tools are rapidly accelerating the creation of malicious hacking exploits. The update addresses 30 severe system bugs, driven by fears that artificial intelligence is compressing the time hackers need to weaponize software vulnerabilities. The urgency correlates with the launch of advanced AI coding models, including Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5. Apple executives stated the company is adapting to a new reality where malicious actors leverage AI to discover and exploit weaknesses at an unprecedented scale. The patch addresses over 25 distinct flaws, including three highly critical bugs in the iOS Kernel, and two dozen vulnerabilities in WebKit. Apple officially confirmed that, to date, there is no evidence that any of the patched bugs have been actively exploited in the wild. Cybersecurity expert Jake Moore, global cybersecurity advisor at ESET, noted that recent advances in AI are dramatically reducing vulnerability discovery times, rendering delayed patch cycles obsolete.
