Estonian startup Rollo Robotics has introduced 1Rollo, a roving police surveillance robot shaped like a rubber kickball, as reported by New Atlas. The device features an AI-integrated 360-degree camera antenna with a wireless transmitter, while its body consists of a stable mono wheel measuring two feet in diameter. According to the company’s website, 1Rollo is the “world’s first mono wheel robot,” with “gyroscope-based stabilization” and rugged weatherproofing for Estonia’s extreme winters. It stands about 3.5 feet in height and can travel at speeds up to 19 miles per hour. Rollo Robotics claims “human patrol is expensive, inefficient, and now replaceable,” noting there are 28.5 million frontline security workers worldwide and that 1Rollo could offer “labor cost reduction” of over 80 percent. The company states it takes three bots for every nine humans, with one robot per 24-hour shift, though its eight-hour battery life may limit that goal.
