Google DeepMind announced three new Gemini models simultaneously: Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, a security specialist for vulnerability remediation. The releases aim to make AI Agents faster, smarter, and more affordable. On the same day, Google DeepMind also "kicked off its most aggressive pre-training campaign in history" for the next-generation model Gemini 4. Gemini 3.6 Flash, the centerpiece, uses 17% fewer output tokens compared to the previous generation 3.5 Flash, and on coding benchmarks like DeepSWE, it can save up to 65% of tokens. Its price is $1.5 per million input tokens and $7.5 per million output tokens. Benchmark performance improvements include DeepSWE rising from 37% to 49%, MLE Bench from 49.7% to 63.9%, OSWorld-Verified from 78.4% to 83%, and GDPVal-AA v2 completing 1421 knowledge-intensive work tasks, over 70 points higher than the previous generation.
