Tesla Anti-Dooring AI: How It Works and Which Cars Have It

Tesla is quietly rolling out an AI-powered anti-dooring prevention system, officially called Blind Spot Warning While Parked, via a free OTA software update. The feature uses existing side-repeater and B-pillar cameras to detect cyclists, pedestrians, and passing vehicles while the car is parked. If a threat is detected when the electronic door release is pressed, the door will not open on the first press, requiring a second press to override. Compatibility has expanded throughout 2026: the Model 3 (Highland) has it as standard since its 2024 launch, the New Model Y is rolling out now, the Cybertruck was added in 2026.8 (March 2026), and the Model S (2021+) and Model X (2021+) are rolling out with the 2026.20.6 update. The worldwide expansion came with Software Update 2026.20.6, published June 30, 2026. To verify the feature, users can open Controls, go to Safety, and look for the "Blind Spot Warning While Parked" toggle. Tesla has not highlighted the feature in official release notes for the current expansion wave.
