SK Eco Plant announced on August 13 that it has established an Artificial Intelligence Data Center (AI DC) business unit, accelerating the expansion of its semiconductor and AI infrastructure business. The measure aims to respond to surging demand for AI DC development and maximize competitiveness by integrating previously dispersed organizations and functions. The AI DC requires higher power density and system complexity compared to general buildings, making conventional construction capabilities insufficient. SK Eco Plant is refining an AI DC standard model to enhance the completeness of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) designs and ensure stable quality. SK Group is planning to build a total of 15GW worth of AI DCs at major locations nationwide, including the Ulsan AI DC project with Amazon Web Services (AWS), in which SK Eco Plant is participating. SK Eco Plant is also strengthening its business capabilities in line with the group's 'AI Full Stack' strategy, which refers to the integrated ability to provide all stages required for AI service implementation, including infrastructure, hardware, and platforms.
