Apple is preparing for a wearable AI revolution with watchOS 27, which will give the Apple Watch access to Siri AI via a software update this fall, turning the wrist into "the most widely-used wearable AI platform on Earth." The feature requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone to process requests. Users tap the Digital Crown to see a new glowing icon, and the experience is identical across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro. The Siri app allows access to past conversations, which sync privately through iCloud, and users can pin conversations. The watch can answer queries, launch apps, provide complex responses like step counts on a specific day, and summon real-time web information. It can access personal context from messages, emails, and notes, such as showing photos from a trip to Spain or playing a song sent by a contact. A new Call Context tool proactively surfaces relevant information from apps when calling a business, like a confirmation code from Mail. The update also offers a preview of how Apple will integrate AI into future smart glasses.
