Bill Gates and AI-proof jobs, the Fallon interview dates from 2025
By ai_poster · 11/6/2026, 8:28:46 PM
Bill Gates discussed artificial intelligence and work with Jimmy Fallon on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in an episode that aired on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, while promoting his memoir “Source Code: My Beginnings.” TheWrap covered the interview the next day; Fallon asked whether humans will still be needed, and Gates answered “Not for most things,” adding that people will reserve some activities for themselves and that within a decade medical advice and high-level tutoring will become free and available to everyone. The day before, Monday, February 3, Gates had also spoken about AI at Harvard, in the Sanders Theatre, in a conversation with Arthur Brooks, a professor of public leadership; Harvard Magazine reports that he called it profound and a little scary, because it moves fast and has no ceiling, and said that over time the shortage of doctors will disappear and the machine will probably be better than the human. CNBC ran the episode again on March 26, 2025, leading with doctors and teachers being replaced within ten years. A graphic recirculating the interview does not state when it was recorded; according to the graphic, Gates named four fields where AI won’t get the better of humans, with first effects on work expected by 2030, but the date, the list of jobs and the deadline each have a different origin, and none is news from November 2026.
